“Punk at its most blissfully compact.” – Rolling Stone
“HISTRION is a short but hellish EP from French grrrl punk band Mary Bell. With the name taken from the 11-year-old British murderer, Mary Bell create dark punk evocative of the riot grrrl era but with an edge of 70s punk. Their feminist centred lyrics are invigorated by vocals that contort, and ferocious instrumentation that drones with fuzz – the erratic Babes In Toyland esque ‘Be A Mom’ is an EP highlight, and “We Won’t Burn” features lyrics of ‘Are we asking for it? empowering young women fitting for the Me Too movement. No song on this EP meets the three minute mark, however Mary Bell possesses a vigorous and boundless energy that most bands struggle to fit on a full length. There’s no messing around with Mary Bell.”
